“So be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you have to endure many trials for a little while. These trials will show that your Faith is Genuine.
It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold though your Faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your Faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much Praise and Glory and Honor on the Day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the Whole World.” (1 Peter 1:6-7)

Have you ever felt that God had abandoned you? Have you ever felt that you’ve called and called God, but He’s not answering? You are going through one of the toughest periods of your life and the One with all the answers is not talking. What do you do when this happens? The first question that you have to ask yourself is why is God silent?
Perhaps there is too much ‘background noise’ for you to effectively hear God. Background noise such as people giving you worldly advice and not Godly advice. Background noise such as unconfessed sin in your life, or your MP3 player or your television, etc. The one thing that you must do is to remove those things from your presence. Get in a quiet place to meditate on God’s Word. (Psalm 119:11)
The next question you should ask is “God are you testing me”? If you remember school life, the teacher is usually silent when a test is in progress. This is not to say that the teacher is not accessible, but that he/she is giving you the opportunity to get through the test on your own merits.
A friend of mine is a school teacher; I asked him to explain what he’s doing while his students are testing? He stated that he observes them, he guides them, he proctors them and if he sees that they are truly lost, he will gently remind them of lessons previously taught. I immediately thought: this is what Jesus does for His children.
Even though Jesus may be silent, He is always near you and observing your every move. (Psalm 73:23-24) Jesus gently guides you. While it may seem that your world is falling apart and the One that you can depend on is silent, Jesus still has his hands on you, gently guiding you in the right direction. (Proverbs 3:5-6; Isaiah 30:21) The Lord is your proctor.
Proctor is defined as one that monitors exams and enforces discipline. Have you ever been looking for someone in a crowd, such as a concert or sporting event? Your eyes roam throughout the location looking at each face, searching and searching until finally, you see them.
The Lord is always monitoring His own. (2 Chronicles 16:9, Psalm 94:12) Finally, you never have to worry that Jesus will allow you to fail the test that you are going through. “But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.” John 14:26
You learn things through tests that you would never learn any other way. The tests that you go through force you to look to God and depend on Him rather than depending on yourself. Allow your tests to make you better and not bitter. If you are going through and you are not hearing God, ask yourself if it is a test and strive to learn from it.
You will never get to the next ‘spiritual’ level if you don’t pass the test on the current level. Just as Abraham passed the test from God in Genesis 22, you must fully trust and obey God and pass your test as well. In doing so, you shall receive the wonderful blessings of God.
Be blessed
